How do I turn off my Messenger greeting on Facebook?
Some of the benefits of connecting your Facebook Page to your Chekkit account are the ability to view reviews, respond to your reviews, and receive messages from your Facebook Page. As a result, your customers may receive duplicate automatic greetings.
To turn off the greeting on your Facebook page, follow the steps below:
- Log in to Facebook and switch to your Page.
- Go to Inbox → Automations.
- Under “Your Automations”, find the automation titled Instant Reply, then toggle it Off (or delete it).
- Next, go to your Page’s Settings → Messaging (or Professional Dashboard → Inbox → Settings) and ensure that any greeting or automatic message setting is disabled.
- Optionally, under Page Settings → General → Messages, uncheck “Allow people to contact my Page privately by showing the Message button” if you want to remove the Message button altogether.
- Save your changes and test by visiting your Page and clicking the Message button to ensure the greeting doesn’t appear.
After these steps, visitors who click “Message” will not receive a preset greeting or automatic reply — only live replies from your team (or no reply if not responded to).
Additional tip: If you have other automations (e.g., away messages, FAQ bots) enabled, check those too in the Automations section and disable any you don’t want.
