Important Notice Re: SMS Filtering and Compliance
Important Notice Re: SMS Filtering and Compliance
Due to recent changes by wireless carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, commercial SMS messages are now subject to rigorous spam filters. Messages considered to have unhealthy error/delivery rates may result in carriers blocking your number if the issues persist.
Common Reasons for Message Filtering:
- Opt-Out Language:
- Required: Your initial message must include opt-out instructions such as "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" or a similar standard keyword. Follow-up messages should also include clear opt-out language if the customer did not respond.
- Sender Identification:
- Required: Every message must clearly identify you as the sender. This applies to both initial and follow-up messages unless part of an ongoing conversation. If the customer did not respond, follow-up messages should still include clear sender identification.
- Opt-In Requirement:
- Required: You must only message customers who have explicitly opted in to receive your communications.
- Excessive Opt-Out or Complaint Rates:
- Monitor: High opt-out or complaint rates can trigger filtering and potential blocking of your number.
Metrics That Impact Your Account:
- 30-day Opt-Out Rate: Less than 2% is considered healthy.
- 30-day Error Rate: Less than 10% is considered healthy.
- 30-day Spam Rate: Less than 0.02% is considered healthy.
