Customize your Textchat widget

After Textchat is installed on your website, use Widget Display Settings to control how the widget looks, what it says, and which pages it appears on.

Go to Settings → Textchat. Look for the Widget Display Settings card.

Still need to install Textchat on your site? Start with How do I set up Textchat?

Customize Launcher

Click Open next to Customize Launcher to change how the chat bubble looks on your site. A live preview updates as you edit.

  • Brand color — the color of the launcher and chat accents
  • Position — left or right side of the page
  • Bubble style — message, text message, call, or avatar
  • Size — default or small
  • Avatar — upload an image for the launcher (especially useful with the avatar bubble style)
  • Offsets — nudge the launcher up from the bottom or inward from the side if it overlaps other site elements

Click Save, then refresh your website to see the changes live.

Active

Use the Active toggle to turn the Textchat widget on or off for your website.

  • On — the widget shows on allowed pages (except any Hidden Pages you set)
  • Off — the widget is hidden everywhere, even if the embed code is still on your site

Greeting

The greeting is the short bubble message visitors see next to the launcher before they open chat.

  1. Click Update next to Greeting.
  2. Enter your message (recommended 50–65 characters; max 150).
  3. Choose whether to show it on mobile, desktop, or both.
  4. Optionally set the greeting font color, or add French/Spanish translations under advanced options.
  5. Save, then refresh your website.

Welcome Message

The welcome message is the first message customers see after they open the Textchat window.

  1. Click Update next to Welcome Message.
  2. Enter the message you want customers to see when chat opens.
  3. Optionally add French/Spanish translations, or control whether “Powered By” branding is shown (depending on your plan).
  4. Save, then refresh your website.

Hidden Pages

Use Hidden Pages when you want Textchat on most of your site, but not on specific pages — for example checkout, cart, or thank-you pages.

  1. Click Update next to Hidden Pages.
  2. Click Add page and enter the page path (examples: /checkout, /thank-you, /cart).
  3. Add as many paths as you need, then click Save.
  4. Refresh your website to confirm the widget is hidden on those pages and still shows elsewhere.

Tips:

  • Enter the path only — not the full website URL. /checkout is correct; https://yoursite.com/checkout also works, but the path is what matters.
  • Matching is exact for that path. Hiding /checkout does not automatically hide /checkout/confirm — add each path you want hidden.
  • If no hidden pages are listed, the widget shows on all pages where the embed code is installed (and the domain is allowed).

Multi-Location Selector

If your account has more than one location, you’ll see Multi-Location Selector in Widget Display Settings.

Click Update to customize the heading, subheading, and colors customers see when choosing a location in Textchat. You can also set optional address text for each location.

  • Allowed Websites — under Textchat setup, control which domains can load your widget. See How do I set up Textchat?
  • Install / remove the embed code — same setup article, including WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, and GoDaddy steps.
